Rest
Resting Rules
Rest is a required rule. When characters are low on health, they may choose to take 1 of 3 durations of resting, 30 minutes (short), 2 hours (medium), and 8 hours (long). During this time, most of the rest must be spent on downtime to fully recover hp and abilities. All class specific abilities with set amounts of uses must be recharged on a rest, depending on the ability's required duration. Downtime means that characters may not take physically or mentally exhaustive tasks. Now, onto the duration of rests!
Short Rest ( Hour)
The squad decides to take a short break, which does not require setting up camp and does not "tick" Sustenance Rules.
- Must spend at least 20 out of 30 minutes in downtime to receive recovering.
- Allowed to spend up to 2 Hit-Dice to heal.
- Recovers Short Rest Abilities.
- Archetype ability cooldowns reset.
Medium Rest (3 Hours)
The squad takes a long break from combat or exploration to heal up and think. Does not require camp, and does not "tick" Sustenance Rules.
- Must spend at least 2 out of 3 hours in downtime to receive recovering.
- Allowed to spend up to 5 Hit-Dice to heal.
- Recovers Short & Medium Rest Abilities.
- Archetype ability cooldowns reset.
Long Rest (9 Hours)
The squad takes the final rest of the day, healing their wounds and thinking of tomorrow's plan. Requires camp or lodging, ticks Sustenance Rules.
