Claptrap
Claptrap
Description
During the Severance Era, weaponry and ammunition for bows were sparse, to say the least. But rope and rusty nails were not. And so the Claptrap was born, a love-child between the might Crossbow and a Barbed Lasso, this weapon was meant to hurt –Then kill. Before even the keeping of time was common, this weapon was equipped to only the most loyal of The Witness' Inquisitors due to the sheer violence it beckoned. Dæmons and those allied to them would feel fear. It was simple enough, the Claptrap could easily lasso them up, and then if they tried to free thyself, there came penance, there came pain.
The Claptrap is a small, pistol-sized Crossbow. Though the Claptrap does not fire bolts. Instead, it launches coils of rope—most commonly barbed wire—using a cruciform tension frame known as a bridle. The X-shaped metal yoke replaces a Crossbow's traditional prod, electing for a more violent option. The weapon contains no true machinery like most guns nowadays. Its reload mechanism is a passive ratcheting system: wire is slid into place, tensioned, and seated by internal guides.
